Gracias Futbol

I was hired by the Los Angeles Times to create a 10 Cell Comic for their online LatinX Files section.

I named the title of my comic “Gracias Futbol” which told the story of my experience with Futbol and what it meant in helping me connect with my Chicano culture and community.

The team at the Los Angeles Time Sports Section like the name so much they ended up using as the title for a series of essays that were to be published at the beginning of the 2022 World Cup. Each Essay would need an accompanying Illustration.

I was so honored to have been chosen to create these illustrations as I am a long time Futbol fan, going on 30 years.

Allison Wong at the Times really liked the work I was turning around with the Illustrations. So much so that I was hired to create the cover art for a section in the Los Angeles Times Sunday Edition, for print.
