CAMPAIGN IDENTITY/ ART DIRECTION/ web/ video production
In response to the ICE raids that were targeting Immigrant communities in Los Angeles, Miguel Santana, the President and CEO of The California Community Foundation, reached out with an idea for a campaign. The goal was to show support to the communities being targeted and illustrate an act of solidarity that was visible.
For the last year, projections of the stories of Angelenos and Americans who were targeted by ICE would live on the side of the CCF building in DTLA, right off the 101 freeway. These projections would run every night until ICE ended their campaign. Initially, what was meant to only be a looped video of the projections turned into a full campaign rollout including: website development, art direction, campaign identity, [video production, and social . . . that needed to be rolled out in less than 3 weeks.
Working with the amazing photography of Barbara Davidson, who together with Peter Hong, gathered portraits of everyday Angelenos who, in a show of solidarity with the immigrant communities of LA, agreed to be part of the campaign, I was able to create a scalable campaign identity that allowed for the tight deadline to be met.
The Identity was kept simple to balance with the impactful photography, and was also inspired by the Human rights movements of the 1960s in the U.S.

Archival footage from that time is mostly black and white, which warps perception of exactly how long ago that era in US history actually was. The intent of making the photos black and white was to invoke that time as well as tie that movement to this campaign.
